AvantiGas, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of LPG, has today announced the appointment of Dean Ewart to the role of managing director.
Taking over from Neil Murphy, who moves to UGI North to oversee the group’s operations in Europe, Dean plans to build on the established AvantiGas brand, focusing on the important role of LPG in the off-grid energy sector – while continuing the company’s emphasis on its customer and service offering.
Speaking about the company, Dean commented, “AvantiGas is truly unique; part of a fortune 500 company – UGI International – it still maintains a family business feel. Made up of great people who do great jobs, I’m sure that by working together we can take the business to the next level by looking after our customers and listening to their needs.”
Prior to his new role, Dean was the MD for the natural gas arm of AvantiGas – AvantiGas ON – taking the company from strength to strength. Drawing upon his two decades of experience at British Gas and RWE, which is part of NPower, he boasts a wealth of knowledge in the energy sector. And although new to LPG, he is relishing the challenge of liquid petroleum gas.
“Obviously there are many differences between mains gas and LPG, but it’s something I’m really enjoying,” added Dean. “As an LPG business, we have many opportunities and challenges to develop and overcome. I’m particularly interested in the government’s recent commitment to phasing out coal and oil as part of its clean growth strategy, showcasing how, as a low carbon fuel, LPG has immediate scalability to help support the government’s ambition. My attention will be focussing on this and driving this great business forward to bring LPG into the 21st century.”
The announcement comes at the end of another successful year for the company. Having continued to grow its LPG business – particularly within the domestic sector – it has also seen its cylinder and mains gas offerings flourish in the competitive market.
